Background
Zane grew up as a simple elf until he was thirty. He was raised by his parents. His father was a ranger, and his mother spent her days in her gardens and making potions. He often helped in the gardens and learned a lot of survival skills because of it.
At the age of thirty, Zane stumbled across a wounded girl. Believing it was a true injustice, he carried her back to the village and gave her to the healers. He watched them cast their magic to heal the girl, and was changed by it. He wanted to learn these arts as well.
To continue learning, he had to travel a lot, and he was always running into trouble. He chose to follow the paths of travel and trickery so he could escape and stay out of trouble when necessary. In his travels he also found that a staff just never seemed to work well against opponents with steel weapons. Thus he decided to learn a new weapon. After some random thought process he still doesn't understand, he came to the conclusion that an axe would work.
About ten years ago, he came to realize he needed money. No one was hiring, so he joined the White Knights. From there he started in the healing corps. He made it to a third rank healer and was seen as fit for being with the combat squads. However, he was under attack one day about five years ago. Using his unique skills, he helped rout the enemy company and was soon recommended for transfer and given the title Zane the Flash. He became a combat knight among the white knights, and that's where he works now.
